I'm Father Deacon John
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MYSELF......
I grew up in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. I received my teaching degree from Rhode Island College. I used play soccer and ice hockey. I love sports so much I ended up coaching high school girls' hockey and boys' soccer and became a professional soccer referree. In college, I participated in a number of college-age mission trip to Ukrainian Orphanages. This impacted my life greatly. Not only did I realize that I want to work with children but I met my beautiful wife on the trip. After I graduated college, I went to work for Royal Carribean's Adventure Ocean Youth Program. I didn't renew my contract because I fell in love and moved to Chicago. Since moving to Chicago, I received a St. Stephen's certificate from the Antiochian House of Studies which made me a candidate for the deaconate. I was ordained on October 1st, 2011. I have substituted and taught in the Chicago Public Schools and now I am here at St. Sava Academy. I am looking forward to a great year.
